Here are more details on the "Plug and Play: A Forum on the Philippine Gaming Industry" conference that the IT Journalists Association of the Philippines, better known as CyberPress, will hold on Jan. 28 at the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Intercontinental Manila in Makati City.

The conference is open to the public and registration is free. The forum will be from 1-5:30 p.m., with registration starting at 12 noon. Attendees will also have a chance to win raffle prizes, including Nokia N-Gage gaming handhelds and Epson printers. While registration is free, those interested in attending should contact event organizer Events@Work at cyberpress@eventsatwork.com because slots are limited.

Here's the announcement that Jing Garcia of Manila Standard and Speed posted on several mailing lists. Jing is the Cyberpress sectoral representative for print media. Oh yeah, have I mentioned that INQ7.net will have its own gaming website, Hackenslash? Now you know, hehe.

PHILIPPINE GAMING FORUM

Every year, the Information Technology Journalists Association of the Philippines (ITJAP/ a.k.a CYBERPRESS) successfully holds a forum about the most relevant topics and the latest trends and developments in the IT world. The next forum will focus on the GAMING INDUSTRY and its implications on the Philippines in general. Presentations and discussions in this forum will revolve around the following
sub-topics:

The development of computer gaming as an industry and as a tool for the academe;

The accessibility and viability of computer gaming as a business; and

The sociological impact of computer gaming on the Filipino psyche as it continues to gain popularity and acceptance among the Filipino youths/adults of today.

The forum, dubbed "PLUG & PLAY: A FORUM ON THE PHILIPPINE GAMING INDUSTRY" will be held on JANUARY 28, 2005. CyberPress intends the forum to be a big event as it kicks off the year 2005 for the local IT world. All effort will be exhausted to bring in top-notch resource speakers for the three discussions. Selected schools and interested organizations will also be invited to have hands-on experience and to participate in the lively and animated discussions.

In this light, we would like to invite you to become a participant in the event. We trust that you will be able to further expand your knowledge by attending this forum as our resource speakers, all experts in their respective fields, bring with them a
wealth of experience and knowledge that you can later on draw from to help you advance in your own field. This forum can likewise serve as a venue for you to network with other people who are involved in the gaming world in one way or
another.

cyberpress gaming forum

If you're a gamer, game developer, or someone who's interested in learning more about the Philippine gaming industry, you might want to head on over to the Hotel Intercontinental Manila in Makati City on Jan. 28.

The IT Journalists Association of the Philippines, better known as Cyberpress, will hold "Plug and Play: A Forum on the Philippine Gaming Industry." Cyberpress president Abi Ho, who is a business reporter of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, said that the conference will tackle the different aspects of gaming, including its business viability and sociological impact. She said that the forum will include speakers from IDC, Spoon Interactive, Level Up!, Intel, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Anino Entertainment, Netopia (Digital Paradise Inc.) and UST.

The conference is open to the public and registration is free. Registration will start at 12 noon and the conference will be from 1-5: 30 p.m. No word yet on the exact venue at the Hotel Intercon, so stay tuned.
