hacking downs tantra
Proving once more how a few rotten eggs can spoil the fun for everyone, hacking violations have forced ABS-CBN Interactive to announce that the game servers for their massively multiplayer online role-playing game Tantra will be temporarily down.
Here's an excerpt from my Infotech story that came out last night:
Hacking downs ABS-CBN online game
AN ONLINE role-playing game run by ABS-CBN Interactive is temporarily down after a hacking attack disrupted its operations.
On Monday morning, administrators of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Tantra posted this advisory on the game's website, tantra.ph:
"Game Servers are Down
"We are interrupting the service due to serious hacking violations done to the game. The team is currently resolving the issue and will have Tantra back online as soon as possible.
"It is our pre-eminent intention to ensure that balance will again be restored in the world of Tantra. Your continued and constant vigilance will greatly help us in our quest to make Tantra the best gaming experience there is for everyone.
"Please accept our sincerest thanks for understanding our position. ABS-CBN Interactive is and will always be deeply committed to promoting and preserving the integrity of the game."
E-mails sent by INQ7.net to the game's administrators went unanswered and no contact telephone numbers were provided on the site, but a Tantra player who requested the use of the pseudonym "manas" said the hacking disrupted the economy of the game's virtual world.
